The social function of announcement

An announcement is used for giving people some information of what has happened or what will happen.

The generic structure of announcement:

1. Stating Purpose : The text that contains what event will be held

2. Stating Day and Date : Day and Date realization. The text that contains when the event will   be held

3. Stating Place : The text that contains where the event will be held

4. Informing Sender : The text that contains name of the person who will be contacted

Note: in some cases, announcement text did not follow this structure.

Language features of announcement

(1) Kosa kata :

 Kosa kata yang lazim digunakan dalam pemberitahuan ( announcement, attention ).

(2) Penggunaan nominal singular dan plural secara tepat, dengan atau tanpa a, the, this, those, my, their, dsb secara tepat dalam frasa nominal

(3) Using Simple future tense and imperative.

It is used to show plan in the future.

Imperative sentence is used to give command, warning, instruction or prohibition. Imperative sentence has different form compare to the others. Imperative sentence mostly starts with a verb.

Example: “please contact Mr. Dedi”
